Mr Chris Rogers

I was born in 1950. I began working at the BBC in 1970, my final year at the BBC was 2008.

How I joined the BBC

Became student contributor to BBC Radio Oxford in 1971 and got job as Station Assistant at BBC Radio Carlisle in 1973.

Rejoined BBC in Regional TV,1990 after 11 years with ITV

Broad BBC career

Everything! As a student contributor at Radio Oxford I started by rolling up Radio Times to be posted to members of local Radio Council, then learned tape editing, appeared in studio, helped on OBs, recorded interviews, presented programmes, made programmes. At Radio Carlisle I was the first voice on the air 24 Nov 1973, I subsequently presented and made the full range of programmes of that time, becoming a local radio producer. Did 18-mth attachment at TVC 1976-77 as BBC1 and BBC2 Continuity Announcer. ( Left BBC in 1979, joined ITV - Border TV and TSW for 11 years) 1990 - Rejoined at BBC South West,Plymouth to present the evening news programme Spotlight. Then from 1992-2008 I was Regional Political Editor
